If Not AIR Personal Fitness Boot Camp…Then What?
If you’re not sure about Boot Camp, have you considered your other choices?
• Hire a private personal trainer: As the owner of one of the most popular fitness companies in San Diego, I know from experience that personal training (with the right trainer) absolutely works. If you would prefer one-on-one, studio or in-home help, just call me at 617.869.8786. I would be happy to help you. Keep in mind though, private training usually costs more than four times boot camp. Also, you may find it easier to “cheat” because you’re only accountable to one person (your trainer) instead of being accountable to a whole group of friends you make at boot camp.
• Join a gym: You’ve probably already tried this, most of my boot camp clients have. Unless you are excited about going to the gym and you know with certainty that you are going to use it, this is not an option I recommend. According to recent statistics, over 65% of gym members rarely attend (once or twice a month). If you are one of the few that do go, do you know how to create a program and execute it in order to burn the most calories and get the best results in the shortest period of time?
• Try a diet: Please don’t do this to yourself. Extremely restrictive diets do NOT work long-term. Even though you can lose some weight quickly by strictly limiting the amount you eat, it is very harmful to your body. Your body will go into “protection mode” to avoid what feels like starvation and store more body fat. Have you heard the term “skinny fat?” That’s what happens to people on diets. You may get smaller but you will not get into great shape. It’s very unattractive.
• Try it on your own: It is possible, though it is rare, that some people can be successful with a self-monitored fitness and weight loss program. If you have the knowledge and intense self-discipline, you can probably make this work for you. Results will probably come less quickly simply because of the learning curve. This requires serious and true commitment to follow through without any outside support or accountability.
• Do nothing: You know the definition of insanity, right? If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you WILL keep getting what you’ve always got. If you were satisfied with what you’ve got, we don’t believe you would be reading this right now. Choosing to do nothing is guaranteed to keep you from getting what you say you want. We encourage you not to take this path.
